Biography

Dr. Nyiema Carter is a native of Southern California, and enjoys traveling the world.  She began her education with Saint Leo University where she earned a bachelor’s degree, majoring in both criminology and sociology. She continued her educational journey with Chapman University located in Orange, CA where she earned  a master’s degree in criminal justice. Interested in continued growth, she furthered her education with the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University located in Alhambra, CA. Dr. Carter earned a second master’s degree in clinical psychology, and finally a doctorate in clinical psychology.  She is licensed by the State of California Board of Psychology and affiliated with several professional organizations.

 

Dr. Carter has acquired knowledge and developed expertise through an array of personal and professional experiences. Her professional experience includes service in the United States Navy, opportunities within hospital settings, service as an Adoption Social Worker, a Peace Officer on multiple government levels, and a Professor, among other roles. She’s had the opportunity to work with government agencies, community organizations and within private practice settings. She develops and facilitates trainings and workshops for large organizations, professional groups, students and interns, as well as, lay members of society seeking to increase knowledge and skill. Dr. Carter combines education, research, professional expertise, life experience and compassion to accompany her clients on their life’s journey of discovery, healing and growth.
